Before I started my healthy eating and living journey over 10 years ago, I didn’t really understand the power food has in our bodies. I had spent my 20’s on a diet rollercoaster and in between dieting I ate whatever I wanted. Needless to say, I was pretty sick by the time I hit 30.

I became desperate for healing.

Little did I know that when my mom gave me a book that listed the top 14 foods that it claimed would change my life, it would be the start of my health transformation.

Through this book and further research, I learned that food was medicine. Each food we eat (whether healthy or not) contains information. Food literally controls almost every function of our body and mind.

The glorious foods that God has given us to eat provide power and healing, nutrients and energy. 

Plants, for example, are living “farmacies” that dispense natural substances with medicinal powers.

Too many foods on the grocery store shelves kill, steal and destroy.

What we eat matters. Food has the power to either fuel disease or fight it. 

We decide.

Foods to Naturally Detox Your Body and Lose Weight

By learning to add in glorious foods to my diet, my life and health transformed. I desire the same for you.

I want to encourage you to try this “add in” philosophy. One-by-one, add in these glorious foods God has given us.

It has worked for me and hundreds of my Healthy Free U students.

So much more has been discovered since 2006 when the SuperFoodsRx book was written. For instance, there are foods in the book that I would not recommend, like soy (unless organic and fermented), but there are so many more foods we need to add to the list because they are too powerful not to.

Including these glorious foods into your life is an easy way to naturally detox your body and lose weight so that you can live a Healthy Free Life.

There are so many amazing health benefits to each of these foods that I could have written a post dedicated to each one. For now, I will just give quick a highlight of each so you can spend less time reading and more time shopping for and eating these glorious foods.

  1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the healthy essential fats that help in your body’s metabolic processes. Other healthy fat foods include chia seeds, hemp seeds, avocado, flaxseed, and oily fish and may help you in losing that belly fat.

  1. Blueberries

Blueberries are loaded with Vitamin C, antioxidants, potassium, fiber and resveratrol, which are known to lower the risk of cancer and heart disease, improve your digestion, and support memory.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has long been used for its healing, anti-inflammatory, and detoxing properties. It can be taken internally or applied externally. It has high amounts of probiotics that help support the digestive health of the body. You use apple cider vinegar as a dressing, as an addition to sauces, or you can even add one tablespoon to a glass of warm drinking water to help in flushing out unhealthy toxins.

  1. Dark and Leafy Greens

There are reasons why your parents always tell you to eat your vegetables. Dark and green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, silverbeet, and green powders contain a chlorophyll compound that helps in improving your digestive health and oxygenating your blood. It also has alkalizing effects that give you many essential minerals and vitamins to help you lose weight fast.

  1. Green Tea

Drinking green tea helps in boosting the metabolism and has a wealth of powerful antioxidants. It promotes weight loss, boosts energy, and may even help protect against radiation damage. I’ve recently traded in my coffee for matcha tea lattes.

  1. Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne is a great source of Vitamins A, B, and C, all of which help with digestion, weight loss, and detoxing. It also creates thermogenic effects in the body that help improve heart health and boost metabolism. Try including cayenne pepper in lemon juice and warm water every morning or try sprinkling it in some of your dishes.

  1. Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids, protein, fiber, calcium, zinc, iron, and magnesium, as well as a plethora of other healthy antioxidants. They help promote weight loss, boost endurance and energy levels, and detoxify.

BONUS: Fiber Rich Food

Alright, so I really have 8 foods, but “7 Foods” looks better for a blog title.

We can’t leave out fiber.

Black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, fruits, lentils, quinoa, and a host of vegetables are loaded with tons of fiber that will keep you feeling full for several hours, helping with weight loss.
